Individual Therapy
I think the most important aspect of therapy is the relationship of trust between the therapist and the client. Without that trust and support, it’s impossible to create a safe space with someone, especially a stranger you’ve never met before, to explore, open up, and grow. I’ve worked with people who have never spoken to a therapist before, people who have been in and out of therapy their whole lives, and everyone in between. Of all the goals I keep in mind when working with someone new, perhaps the most important to me is to make sure you feel comfortable with me.
I am genuine and warm, and approach my practice with an empathic, compassionate, and non-judgmental perspective. In addition, my therapeutic approach is anti-racist, anti-oppressive, culturally-informed, and is rooted in a social justice framework. I know that our intersecting identities influence every aspect of our lives and our experiences, and creating a space where you are welcomed to speak candidly and openly is intrinsic to the way I practice.
Couples Therapy
Relationships can be both deeply fulfilling and incredibly challenging. Couples therapy offers a supportive and nonjudgmental space to explore and identify your patterns of communication, rebuild trust, deepen connection, and navigate conflict in healthier ways. Whether you are facing a specific issue, want to discuss something proactively before it becomes a problem, or simply want to strengthen your relationship, therapy can help you grow together with greater understanding, compassion, and empathy for each other.
It’s an honor when a couple let’s me be a witness to their relationship and an extension of their support system. Helping people build and strengthen healthy relationships is one of the most fulfilling parts of my work.
A note on medications-
I respect each person’s interest or decision to consider the benefits of psychotropic medications. For those who are interested, I have had extensive exposure to and training in psychotropic medication management. While I cannot prescribe medication, I am comfortable and competent in consulting with psychiatrists and other medication providers to provide psychotropic medication recommendations, and I am happy to help facilitate connections and referrals to relevant providers.
